I Believe My Intuition Saved my Daughter's Life

My own intuition very well saved my eldest daughter's life.  I am forever grateful. Twenty-two years ago, I was 24 weeks pregnant, working as a hairdresser, smashing out 11 hours a day, four days a week, and managing a large team in a bustling salon.  ​

When not with clients, I trained apprentices and did everything else required. Life was busy. 

I loved my clients and fabulous staff and made a plan to work as long as possible. Those who know me well will agree, that I am super organised  (bossy?) and like to have a plan.

My intuition was letting me know something wasn't right with the pregnancy. Over a few days, the unease was stronger, so I rang my midwife. 

She said I was being over the top as I was a first time Mum.
She said she was busy, but I could meet if I HAD to see her.
Quick juggling of my clients with the team, and I went.

I was so nervous. I waited 20 minutes getting more and more anxious.

She called me in, not looking very happy with me.  

I explained something wasn't right
She just looked at me like I was an idiot.

She didn't examine me.
She told me I was paranoid
Then dismissed me like a naughty child.​

I bawled my eyes while driving back to the salon.
I felt embarrassed and shame that I was creating drama. 

Well, the team at the salon said it wasn't on and that I should ask my doctor to change my midwife. So I rang and left a message with the doctors.
That night, I got a phone call from another midwife who sent me for a scan the following day. 

Verdict:

• I was dilated, and my waters were leaking.
• Immediate bed rest to keep this baby inside me under  strict conditions. 

My intutition was right!

The following months were stressful but we got through it. 
All went well, and my beautiful daughter was born full-term, happy and healthy.

I believe my intuition saved her from being born at 24 weeks. They didn't have the medical knowledge like they have now, so I know it would not have been smooth sailing if she had survived.

It was  not the first time my intuition had guided me.
My intuition has saved  me from serious injury, disaster and heartache.

It has helped me change my life, not once, not twice but three times. 
it has helped to change my career, and relationships, move cities.
